On 4 July 2026, Cape Verde's football championship ended in a penalty shootout. Palmeira, from Sal, retained the title after a 2–2 draw with Mindelense of São Vicente, winning 3–2 on penalties.

But sports coverage is only half the story. Cape Verde has its own online gambling law, and accepting a Cape Verdean registration does not prove a bookmaker is authorised there.

The law already covers online sports betting

Decree-Law No. 73/2015 expressly regulates remote betting on sporting events, including both fixed-odds and pooled bets. It also prohibits residents from using gambling websites not authorised under that framework.

As of October 2026, a complete public register linking internationally advertised sportsbooks to active Cape Verdean online licences could not be verified. An offshore licence or a working website is therefore insufficient evidence of local authorisation.

The escudo matters more than a euro bonus

The Cape Verdean escudo (CVE) is pegged to the euro at €1 = CVE 110.265. The fixed exchange rate makes euro-denominated offers easier to compare, although operators and payment providers may still charge conversion fees.
